from the North Carolina side going toward Tennessee.

We stopped by the side of the road in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park on the
Tennessee side. As it turns out, it was a smart move, around the next curve the road
was iced over and we had to turn around and go back anyway. December 30, 2003.

This is Steve going on a 8 mile and 2500 feet hike up Greenbrier Pinnacle, just north of
Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He didn't quite make 8 miles, but he did make 7. The reason he is
smiling is that he is still on the way up the mountain, not down. December 31, 2003.
